Naseh Yousefi, a Kurdish political prisoner in Rajai Shahr Prison in
Karaj, has refused to go to the hospital in protest to being insulted by
prison authorities who required him to wear a prison uniform and placed
in handcuffs and shackles prior to his transfer.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Naseh (Ayhan) Yousefi was supposed to be transferred to the hospital on May 19, 2013 and also required to pay for the cost of his medical treatment.
Since Yousefi’s nose was broken a long time ago, doctors have recommended an operation. After Yousefi’s refusal and protest, prison authorities have done nothing to address his medical needs despite the fact that he suffers from acute ear and nose problems. Yousefi has been sentenced to 8 years in prison on charges of helping Kurdish opposition parties.
