Roin Otofat Deprived Of Taking Part In University Exams

Roin Otofat, political prisoner at Evin prison, could not attend the University final exams. Prison officials have announced that the delayed letter from the university has caused it, but prisoners have said that the letter had been received by the prison at least one month ago.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Roin Otofat, national-religious activist, is the absentia student of “Payame Noor” University in field of mysticism and philosophy, and he had an exam on Sunday, 27th December, that he should have attended, but by the lack of coordination, he failed to attend the exam.
According to the laws and regulations of the “Prisons Institution”, prisoners are allowed to study at the imprisonment time and the prison must provide education and preparations for their participation in the exams.
Roin Otofat went to Evin Prison to endure his ten-year imprisonment in last February.
Mr. Otofat was arrested during a cultural meeting in his own home, by the Ministry of Intelligence, and was transferred to Evin prison, on 15th February 2013, and after five months he was released on the bail from Evin prison, on 10th July 2013.
The national-religious activist was summoned and tried by Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court, presided by Judge Salvati, and was charged with “establishing an illegal and counter-security organization, known as “Suraye Ranginkaman”, (Rainbow Council) in collaboration with illegal group of the national-religious and, also propaganda against the regime through the issuing and signing counter-security statements, on 29th June 2014.
The court ruled an 11 years imprisonment and two years deprivation of activities through political parties, and groups, and activity in cyberspace, media and press, for Roein Otofat, which was changed to 10 years imprisonment by Branch 54 of the Appeals Court, and all the deprivations remained as above.
Mr. Otofat is currently serving his imprisonment sentence in ward eight of Evin prison and also, has not been sent on furlough, so far.
