Sohrab’s mother in thanking Ali Karimi called him “the pride of the Iranian people.”

یاد مادران سرزمینم هفت ؛ زهرا نیک پیما مادر اشکان سهرابی ، مادری از جنس رنج و مادری از مادران زجر کشیده سرزمینم ، مادر اشکان می گوید : " پنج شنبه وقتی سر خاک اشکان رفتم ، دیدم دور سنگ قبرش را با رنگ سبز براق رنگ کرده اند. هیجان زده شده بودم و نمی دانستم چه کسی این کار را کرده است. با خود گفتم پس مردم با ما هستند و وقتی ما نیستیم، می آیند و به عزیزان دلبند ما سر می زنند و خانه اش را تزیین می کنند."

فریادهای جگرسوز مادران هم یعنی بی اثر مانده ؟ یعنی آنچه کوه را هم از جا می‌کند و دیاری را کن فیکون ! دیگر اثر ندارد ؟ دیگر جواب نمی‌دهد ؟ مادر ، مادران ، مگریید که بر فراز آسمان، خدا هم خود را به خواب زده که اگر خفته بود، صدها بار خوابش آشفته می‌شد.

اشکان سهرابی (۱۰ بهمن ۱۳۶۸ - ۳۰ خرداد ۱۳۸۸) ، دانشجوی مهندسی فناوری اطلاعات دانشگاه آزاد قزوین بوده است. اشکان سهرابی دارای کمربند مشکی و دان ۲ تکواندو بوده‌است.

علی کریمی در ۱۲ شهریور ۱۳۹۰ پیراهن شماره ۱۶ باشگاه شالکه آلمان که زمانی بر تن می‌کرد را به مادر اشکان سهرابی هدیه کرد.همچنین مادر سهراب نیز با تشکر از علی کریمی، وی را "افتخار همه مردم ایران" نامید

Zahra Nik Peyma, mother of Ashkan Sohrabi, a mother in pain is one of the suffering mothers of my nation. Askhkan’s mother says: “When I went to Ashkan’s gravesite on Thursday, I saw that around his grave was painted bright green. I was overjoyed and had no idea who had done this. But I told myself the people are still with us. When we are not here, they come and visit our loved ones and decorate their homes.”

The heart-wrenching cries of the mothers have gone unnoticed; the cries that can root out mountains and unearth the land. Do they not have any effect anymore? Is there no answer anymore? Mother, mothers, keep on crying because up in the sky, even God is pretending to be sleeping for he was really sleeping he would have been waken hundreds of times with the disturbance of the cries.

Ashkan Sohrabi (January 30, 1998 – June 20, 2009), was an IT student at Azad University in Qazvin and had a black belt in taekwondo.

On September 3, 2011, [football player] Ali Karimi donated his Schalke team jersey that he used to wear, to the Sohrabi family in Ashkan’s honor. [Ashkan was a Persepolis fan and a huge admirer of player Ali Karimi].
