Iran: Anti-riot maneuvers in the regime’s prisons in fear of prisoners’ riot

The clerical regime, in fear of prisoners’ riot, has resorted to maneuvers in various prisons across the country. IRGC News agency (FARS) reported a maneuver by the protection unit of Hamedan prison. Similar maneuvers have already taken place in prisons in Ardakan, Yazd, Arak, Naghadeh, Abadeh, Maragheh, Marvdasht, Ghom, Yassouj and other cities.

These maneuvers have taken place with the cooperation of Ministry of Intelligence, Security Forces, Governor’s office, fire department, and emergency services of these cities.

The regime’s agents have stated the goal of these maneuvers as “providing security in the prisons”, “preparedness and increasing capacity to confront potential riots and disturbances inside prisons”, “confronting hostage taking”, “threats”, “increasing the level of preparedness of prison forces and coordination with other organs and controlling crisis”.

Meanwhile, on March 19, 2013, “prison security” agents abruptly inspected political prisoners’ wards for men and women in Evin prison.

Anti-riot forces under the IRGC command also have participated in various drills to confront “social unrests” in Tehran.

These suppressive maneuvers in various prisons and cities are to confront prisoners’ riots against horrible conditions in prisons and explosion of public rage and scores of hungry people specially on the eve of the regime’s election sham.
